US President Donald Trump has come out guns blazing, expressing his disappointment with Sweden, particularly Prime Minister Stefan Löfven over the continued imprisonment of A$AP Rocky.
Prosecutors on Thursday officially charged the US rapper after a brawl in the streets of Stockholm early this month.
Last week, Trump tried through a 20 minute phone call to Löfven, to have the rapper released but as they were set for another engagement over the matter, prosecutors said they were formally charging the musician.
Trump did not take it lightly and took to Twitter to express his disappointment.
“Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly! #FreeRocky,” Trump said.
“Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem! #FreeRocky,” Trump said.
He received support from the people behind ASAP Rocky saying he must continue pushing for his release.
Sweden is known for its crime problems and Trump mentioned it in apparent reference to the record.
If found guilty, he faces at least two years in jail.
