Authorities in Sweden have rubbished claims that US rapper A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, was being kept under inhuman conditions in solitary confinement in a Swedish prison.
There were reports that the rapper was being ill-treated while in detention awaiting ruling on his street brawl case.
His manager, John Ehmann, called out city authorities in a petition claiming the American was in “horrific” and “inhumane conditions”.
However, governor of the Swedish prison where he is being detained, Fredrik Wallin, who is in charge of the Kronoberg facility, is refuting the claims saying the detention center is clean, recently renovated and offers three daily meals to all inmates.
Rocky has been held in police custody in Stockholm since July 2 after he was reportedly involved in a street brawl with two Swedish men together with his entourage.
There are being charged with assault.
Rocky has maintained he and his crew acted in self-defense when they attacked one of the men who had allegedly been harassing them.
